The "an" in Tan sounds like the "an" in Han Solo. So say it like you're saying Han but with a "T". "Tan" is the Teochew romanization of the Chinese last name "Chen" (陈/陳). It's probably the most common last name in Singapore, and its roots can be traced back to the Zhou Dynasty in ancient China. And this is probably more than what you wanted to know.
It's the initials of the Teochew romanization of my Chinese name, "Qiulin" (秋琳). It means autumn beautiful jade, which is mildly embarrassing. And yes, "June" is my English name given at birth.

Some of my favorite authors: Jeanette Winterson, Shakespeare, Neil Gaiman, Jane Austen, Margaret Atwood, Philip Pullman, Megan Whalen Turner, Leigh Bardugo, Suzanne Collins, Louis Cha (Jin Yong)...I love different books for different reasons, but if I HAD to choose THE ONE, I'm going with The Passion by Jeanette Winterson.
